TURQUOISE FILIGREE EARRINGS
(long teardrop earrings)
Long Teardrop Earrings -✿- By A Closet In Delirium and Novapsis

There are probably hundreds of designs an artisan could conjure with this long cone and teardrop bead theme, and this long teardrop earrings design combines a vintage filigree feel with the more casual and earthy look of Turquoise Magnesite...perfect for blue jeans or business casual. The gaps in the filigree cones are even filled with tiny Czech Glass beads to peek through the filigree cone.

The cones and earwires are both finished in a metallic black gunmetal, and the total length of these long teardrop earrings is approximately 1.75 inches.

♪ A Note on Magnesite ♪
Magnesite has same crystal structure as Calcite with a texture and pattern that's very similar to Turquoise. Because of the similar pattern and the porous nature of the stone that allows it to be easily dyed, it can be mistaken for Turquoise, and some jewelers will even sell dyed Turquoise Magnesite as actual Turquoise (something to watch for if you collect Turquoise jewelry!). Magnesite typically comes from the Western US, and because it is easily carved, it was historically used by Native Americans for both beads and currency.

♪ A Note on Czech Glass ♪
A cottage industry since Roman times, glass beads manufactured in Bohemia (the current Czech Republic) rose to the top of the world markets in the 19th century when skilled local glass/crystal crafters began the art of pressed glass production. During political upheavals of the mid-20th century, production ceased for several years, but the Czechs rapidly went back to the forefront of world beadmaking when production resumed in 1958.
