Beaded Tassel Necklaces -✿- By A Closet In Delirium and Novapsis

With hues of brown and amber, the touches of green in these tassel necklaces gives them an earthy feel without taking away from the overall neutral look. Dark brown boxwood and faux suede anchor the darker contrast, and the large cylindrical white/green/brown porcelain bead draws the eye in as the light contrasting center. A variety of small glass beads are used including Czech pressed glass in amber and tortoise shell, and cat's eye glass and glazed Czech glass on the tassel tips.

These tassel necklaces are approximately 20 inches around, and the entire tassel pendant is a little over 3 inches long. The metals all have a vintage silver finish that requires no maintenance.

 For these Beaded Tassel Necklaces:
♪ A Note on Czech Glass ♪
A cottage industry since Roman times, glass beads manufactured in Bohemia (the current Czech Republic) rose to the top of the world markets in the 19th century when skilled local glass/crystal crafters began the art of pressed glass production. During political upheavals of the mid-20th century, production ceased for several years, but the Czechs rapidly went back to the forefront of world beadmaking when production resumed in 1958.

♪ A Note on Boxwood ♪
Boxwood is an ideal beadmaking material since its high density makes it resistant to chipping or cracking when worked. Boxwood is a highly available resource, but since it comes from hedges with smaller branches, the size limits the application of this wood to mostly jewelry, decorative boxes, chess pieces and musical instrument components.
